i should be posting the slaughterhouse freestyles over beamer benz or bentley … on new york jersey philly joey and royce fire shots at zino, that old dude em erased off the face of the earth in 03, and on nissan honda chevy ortiz serves his usual dose of crack. either is preferable to lloyd banks’ mumbling on the original. but that’s not what this post is for. today’s the first friday since the site re-design and my resolution to diversify. i try to watch as many foreign movies as i do american ones, just to keep an open mind and know what’s relevant. however, in music the language barrier can’t be overcome with subtitles. obviously, the lyrically-dependent format is localized to specific regions. listeners, especially here in the states, may never be exposed to extensive amounts of media outside of their own culture. though there’s incredibly simple ways to discover foreign artists, it’s difficult to actually obtain their work. in most cases there are no means to purchase it and comprehensive translations are practically non-existent. there’s so much potential here, so many untapped markets, i’m surprised that, in a digital age, music is yet to go global. here’s four tracks, french and japanese examples of both pop and rap. i’ll do more international posts in the future, maybe even a few playlists. we will see …
